Jan 29, 2009 at Columbus Marina

We arrived at 1 PM after getting a bit lost. This was a problem because we had to unload the car and return it to the airport by 2 PM. One of the staff said "you got 2 hours". We forgot about the time change in Mississippi, it was only noon. Four University degrees between us and we can't tell time. Oh well, just imagine the trouble we would have gotten into without the degrees. Tomorrow is getting the boat ready day and we hope to leave on Saturday.

Jan 28, 2009 Ann Arbor to Nashville

We left this morning at 9 AM and ended up in Nashville at roughly 9 PM. There was a lot of snow on the way which slowed us down. Quite a few cars slid off the roads. At one point, we were detoured and lost an hour. Plan to leave at 7 AM tomorrow to arrive in Columbus Miss by around 1 PM.

Getting Ready

One week to go. I'm starting to gather all the things that I want to take on the trip, keeping in mind that space is limited. So far, golf clubs (might not have time to play but just in case), clothes, handheld vhf, a few small tools, laptop, cameras, money etc. You can check John's website ttp://porkport.yourfamilywebsite.com/ for additional information.

Intro

I'm in the process of getting ready to help John Mater move his boat from Columbus, Mississippi to Stuart, Florida. This will involve moving south through the Tennessee River to the Gulf of Mexico along the west coast of Florida and across Florida through Lake Okeechobee to Stuart Florida where John's wife Marty will join him and I will return home.
